This list represents a rather arbitrary intersection of topics, and is exactly the sort of list noted at WP:OC#EGRS. Why are NBA players from Canada specifically such an important topic that one could create a stand-alone article about it, I am not sure. That such a list also exists outside of Wikipedia is not to me terribly compelling, in that one can find random lists outside of Wikipedia on many ephemeral and esoteric intersections as this. Do we need lists of every athelete in a professional sports league by their a) Religion b) Race c) Country of Birth d) model of car they drive e) whether or not they have tattoos f) any other random characteristic which they may have that isn't really related to their reason for being notable? Probably not. Jayron32 02:05, 1 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Keep - I don't think the list is illogical — anyone who has watched Steve Nash over the course of his career knows that the "From Canada" angle has been mentioned and opined upon approximately 30,000 times. Inclusion criteria are easy to understand, the list is comprehensive, it is not overly long or overly short, it doubtlessly has a navigational function for NBA fans. I can see no problems with this. - The biggest problem with this list is that it wasn't linked as a See Also on the Steve Nash page. Fixed. Carrite (talk) 14:55, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- 2 Comments; (1) the nomination uses exaggeration as an argument which doesn't belong in an AfD. (2) This list is largely a duplicate of what's at List of Canadian sports personalities#Basketball.
My feeling is that it's not necessary to have the List of NBA players separate from the sublist in Canadian sports personalities, so Delete. As have pointed out after my original comment, the same content and more is also at List of foreign NBA players, and it makes sense to Redirect this article to that one. PKT(alk) 20:42, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply] - Delete - Rather this list is useful or not is not really a problem. The real problem is that it is redundant to List of foreign NBA players, which lists all foreign players. Why do we need this sublist when the same info is presented in the main list?—Chris!c/t 22:44, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- I just read the above comment and agree that it is redundant to List of Canadian sports personalities#Basketball as well.—Chris!c/t 22:58, 3 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete Content fork of both List of Canadian sports personalities#Basketball and List of foreign NBA players#C. My biggest problem with this list is that it's a stub, unreferenced and lack of useful contents (no lead, no additional info other than player names and their origins). A reader reading sportsperson list would expect more info about the players' career, position, teams, etc. On the other hand, the List of foreign NBA players already covers all that information. I would reconsider my delete vote if anyone step up and improve this list. — MT (talk) 05:15, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Note - the current name of the list is also a problem. Steve Nash is Canadian citizen, but he is not from Canada. So if Nash is listed, this list should be called List of Canadian NBA players.—Chris!c/t 00:38, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, "from" doesn't necessarily mean "born in". Nash did live in Canada for much of his life. Zagalejo^^^ 03:21, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- If this is kept, to follow other list of NBA players by country, we should rename it List of Canadian NBA players (see List of foreign NBA players#See also).— MT (talk) 07:15, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

- Redirect to List of foreign NBA players. Plausible search term. Zagalejo^^^ 03:20, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
- Delete and do not redirect The list is a duplicate sublist of List of foreign NBA players, which is sortable by country. I see no need to redirect as the current title is random and unlikely to be typed directly by users, not to mention above arguments that "from Canada" is ambiguous. Also the article is linked by only one article (excluding talk pages, deletion sorting pages, alert pages, and archives.) —Bagumba (talk) 09:07, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
